Tovar Helps Rockies Dent D-backs' Playoff Drive
Rockies Offense Explodes in 10-4 Win
Yonathan Daza got the scoring started with a two-run double in the first inning, and Ryan McMahon added a two-run homer in the second inning to give the Rockies an early 4-0 lead.
The D-backs got on the board with a solo home run by Christian Walker in the third inning, but the Rockies answered back with a two-run single by Elehuris Montero in the fourth inning.
Tovar's Late Homer Seals the Win
The D-backs cut the lead to 7-4 with a two-run single by Kole Calhoun in the fifth inning, but Tovar put the game away with a three-run homer in the eighth inning.
The Rockies bullpen was solid in relief of starter Kyle Freeland, with Daniel Bard, Justin Lawrence, and Jake Bird combining to allow just one run on four hits over the final four innings.
The win keeps the Rockies in the hunt for a wild-card berth, while the D-backs' playoff hopes took a hit.
