The Carter Center to Deploy Election Observation Mission to Venezuela
Mission to Monitor Upcoming Elections
ATLANTA, June 21, 2024
The Carter Center announced today that it will deploy a technical election observation mission to Venezuela in advance of the upcoming presidential election scheduled for July 29, 2024.
The mission will consist of 17 experts, including 11 based in Caracas and six deployed to Barinas, Maracaibo, and other key locations. The team will assess the electoral process, including voter registration, campaign activities, media coverage, and election day procedures.
"The Carter Center is committed to supporting transparent and credible elections around the world," said Jason Carter, chairman of the Carter Center Board of Trustees. "Our mission to Venezuela will provide an independent and impartial assessment of the electoral process and contribute to the peaceful and democratic transfer of power."
